Swimming Report 2009/10 season.
The 2009/10 season has been very good in terms of the growth of the number of scholars joining swimming training. We have gone from having only a competitive squad to having two squads: a competitive swimming squad as well as a group of new swimmers who show potential to swim competitively. I am very proud of the dedication that the younger swimmers have shown, and their willingness to learn to improve their swimming abilities dramatically during the first term of 2010.
Although there was a drop off in the number of swimmers swimming at EPA galas, I have managed to persuade some of the swimmers to start swimming in the local open water series held in marina Martinique. This is also an EPA sanctioned event, and those that have been swimming in them have discovered that there are other places to enjoy competitive swimming, not just in the pool.

Jamie Loots a grade 8 learner at Nico Malan High School received a silver medal at the recent top 8 gala for breast stroke.

Redhouse Mile
Anja Franzsen in graad 9 het Sondag 28 Februarie aan haar eerste Redhouse Mile deelgeneem. Daar was 253 swemmers in die vroue-myl en s het 80ste gekom met 'n tyd van 33,31 minute. Sy he took op 31 Januarie in die Marina 1 km geswem waar sy met 'n tyd van 19 minute 9de gekom het. Baie geluk Anja! |
