SURFING
This email is to inform you that Tahra Uren a Grade 9 pupil at Nico Malan will represent Eastern Province Surfing at the South African Junior Surfing Championships in Cape Town from 28 September to 3 October. She is the number one seed for EP Surfing in the Under 15 Girls division. Tahra is a very accomplished competitive surfer and has achieved the following results so far this year: RVCA regional event - Port Elizabeth - February - 4th Under 16 Girls; Oakley International Pro Junior - Port Alfred - May - 7th Under 20 Girls; EP Junior Trials - PE, Jeffreys Bay, St Francis Bay - May to July - 1st in two and 2nd in one - number 1 seed Under 15 Girls; SA Women's Cup - PE - August - 2nd Under 16 Girls, 7th Under 20 Girls; EP Inter Club Provincial Event - Jeffreys Bay - September - 1st Under 15 Girls, 2nd Under 20 Girls. Tahra ended as number 2 in the Under 14 Girls on the South African rankings in 2009 and is currently number 4 in the Under 16 Girls ranking in South Africa.

ANGLING Pierre Janneke was selected to represent Eastern Province Shore Angling at the Junior Nationals 2011 to be held in the waters of Border.

Strandwedloop: Baie geluk aan JP Bernard wat 2de geëindig het in die 5km strand wedloop wat Maandag 22 Maart in Jeffreys Baai gehou is. Sy tyd was 24 minute. Hiermee het hy 'n silwer medalje verower. Neels van Rooyen het 'n 4de plek behaal. Baie geluk julle twee! |

Endurance:
On Friday, 5 March, Jenna Masterson took part in a 120km endurance race. Things started out a bit rocky when her horse was withdrawn from the race due to some minor temporary injuries. The vet came around to look at the horse, and after a few treatments declared the horse fit to take part. Jenna completed the race with a time of 8 hours and 23 minutes in temperatures reaching up to 44 degrees. Out of a total of 160 riders, Jenna finished in 10th place! This is truly an excellent achievement! Well done Jenna! |

Endurance:
Jenna Masterson took part in a 50km endurance race in Graaff Reinet on 6th February. All riders departed at 5 am to try and avoid the heat later in the day. Jenna was the 4th junior in, and actually the 4th overall amongst the 60 riders in different categories. She finished 50 km in a time of 4 hours and 36 minutes. It was a great ride for her in very hard conditions, the temperature reaching 44 degrees. Baie geluk met hierdie uitstekende prestasie Jenna! |
