Interact had a busy 2011 under the leadership of President Stephanie Louw.
We had several outings: to the Joshua Project in Jeffreys Bay and Seventh Heaven Haven where we treated the children with snacks and played with them on the beach. We also visited the Penguin Rehabilitation Centre in St Francis on 2 occasions and cleaned the enclosures for them. We also supported the SPCA and Pet Rescue and washed dogs and exercised them at the SPCA.
We had a Christmas Party for the children at a local farm school. The Interactors made personalized pencil bags full of stationary which were given to the children of two farm schools. We enjoyed a wonderful visit from the children of a local school for the mentally disabled. It was a great joy to us to see their faces when they received their personalized pencil bags.
We have had various fundraisers and donated two bicycles to the recycling project in Pellsrus which depends on donations to keep the project going.
Two of our Interactors attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Camp in Grahamstown and gave very positive feedback to the club. This year we also held our first Interact camp in Nature's Valley. It was such a success that we hope to hold camps more often. We also hiked up Lady Slipper Mountain in Thornhill where wet misty weather did not put us off.
Stephanie's successful year came to a close with the voting in of the new Interact Board, (see photo) under the leadership of President, Alissa Jooste. The success of Interact depends on all the members getting involved so thank you to all our Interactors for their support in our activities and service to their community.
